Turaida Museum Reserve invites school students, teachers and nature enthusiasts to “Turaida Nature Laboratory: Explore, Understand, Preserve!”, an event offering an opportunity to discover Turaida’s diverse natural environment through practical activities and shared experience. Science teachers are especially welcome.

Together with biology teacher and programme co-author Līga Sausiņa, nature expert and programme leader Daina Bojāre, and Turaida museum educators, 12th-grade students from Sigulda State Gymnasium will explore common tree species in Latvia, pond inhabitants and other natural values. Visitors will also have an opportunity to discover the STEM activities offered at Turaida Museum Reserve.

Turaida Museum Reserve provides a rich environment for nature-based learning and exploration, with more than 20 ponds, insect hotels, veteran and notable trees, as well as a habitat for the specially protected hermit beetle. At the interactive outdoor exhibition “Nature Pearls”, visitors can compare themselves with the size of remarkable trees and even step inside a model of the hermit beetle’s tree hollow.
