Grown out of the hobby of the hostess of the farm, the classic nearly 2-hectare farm garden has been in the process of deliberate shaping for the past 10 years. Entering this free-form garden exposed to winds, one is captivated by the winding paths surrounded by the perennial plant areas, and cosy garden nooks for stopping and admiring the beauty of the flowers. In the back of the garden, there is a large natural pond with plants growing in groups on the high shorelines. Large and powerful plants have been selected for the flowerbeds on purpose. The old willows – the pillars of the farm – provide shade and have been an inspiration in landscaping the garden.
The following plants have found their permanent space in the Kaevandi ornamental garden:
- ferns
- hostas (120 varieties)
- garden phloxes (250 varieties)
- peonies.
Peony day exhibition in early June
The Kaevandi ornamental garden has a tradition of holding a peony day during peak bloom time. At the beginning of June, an exhibition is held, where new varieties are shown and new stories and facts shared about the royal flower. The most beautiful time to visit the garden is from May to September, and visitors are very welcome. In 2019, the farm was awarded the title “Beautiful Estonian Home” by the President of the Republic. In 2010, the Kaevandi Farm was recognised as the most beautiful production farm in Suure-Jaani Parish.Detailed Information
