Located in a naturally beautiful site near Viljandi, the ornamental garden et Lusika Tourism Farm attracts garden enthusiasts from both Estonia and abroad. About 27 years ago, Sirje and Heino, the owners of Lusika Farm, started planning the garden, which kept growing over the years and is now covering about 1.8 hectares. The quarrystone building dating back to 1878 was turned into a house and supplemented with a guest house. The quarrystone building once used as a cattle shed was renovated inside and out. The family’s interest in the basics of feng shui and Chinese folk medicine led the gardeners to the People’s Republic of China to obtain new knowledge.

Plants

The garden features about 250300 plant taxa. The recurring motif in the garden is quarrystone: the stones and plants surrounding the four waterholes. The plants that need moisture have been placed around water bodies and those that need more sun, such as callas, into sunnier spots. Callas – the queens of the late summer – a total of nearly 80 plants, are growing in groups in the ornamental garden. They come in different colours, with orange and red shades prevailing. In the spring, the garden is decorated by:

  • perennials,
  • crocuses,
  • tulips.

In addition, the garden boasts an asparagus plant of about 25 years of age, a beautiful and delicate sight, embraced by the thorny plants. The garden gets its distinctive atmosphere and aura from the love put into the garden and the plants. The owners of the garden believe that people can affect the life span of plants with their thoughts.

Come and try fasting

What makes the Lusika Tourism Farm special is that it also welcomes people interested in boosting their mind and soul with fasting and meditation. The beautiful garden is a warm welcome for visitors and a support for fasting as well.

In 1998, the farm was awarded the title “House to Home”: the farm and the garden were winners of the contest in Viljandi County. The President of Estonia Lennart Meri was present at the awarding.
